I’ve been using a behavior clip chart for a few years now. As I’m preparing for my new position, there are some things that are strange about not having a homeroom group. One of them is realizing that I won’t need my clip chart. As an intervention teacher I’ll have different kids all day long and throughout the year.
I had someone request an additional page for one of my clip charts from my TPT store recently.
As I made the black chevron parent contact page, I realized that I had more to share with all of you. I never shared the weekly form that we used to keep the parents in the loop. So, here is a little freebie for you (and a black page for Jenna).
Freebie
My Clip Charts
My portable clip charts are designed for a clipboard. Last year, we had three groups of 5th graders and each group had a member responsible for carrying the clip chart from class to class. It worked very well.
I have a Polka Dot Portable Clip Chart and a Chevron Portable Clip Chart.
Directions on how to make the portable charts are included. You can also check out this blog post which even includes a short video.
I also have the traditional wall hanging clip chart versions in polka dot and chevron.
Luckily for me most people at my school use clip charts so I’ll still be able to clip kids up.
I’m all about setting routines and procedures and knowing that I could teach intervention to any child in our school rather than having a set group is making beginning of the year planning strange. There are so many things that I don’t have to do before school starts that I’m afraid I’ll relax too much and forget to do something important.

As a reading specialist, I understand your beginning of the year worries. I kept myself busy by helping the teachers in my school with whatever they needed. They were super thankful for the help, which helped our relationship throughout the year.
Good luck!
